Description
Long spear of blackened wood in one piece, tapering at both ends. Handle end has been broken. Some cotton thread is caught in the split. From middle part to end of spear: -rattan binding of natural and red (dyed) colour -area of wood carved in 5 facets all decorated with ‘X’ shaped and extended ‘X’ shaped pearl shell inlays. - knob of wood incised- metal thread (for museum display?) -one long ‘arrow end’-like projection having 5 prongs, covered in parinarium paste and decorated with ‘X’ shaped pear shell inlaid and rattan binding. - 4 successive and decreasing in size ‘arrow end’-like projections having 6/6/6/4 prongs respectively. Covered with parinarium paste. - end bound with rattan.
