The entry in Beasley's original catalgue (vol.3) reads: 'ROTUMAH: - Club of spatulate form with four series of ridged bands carved on blade. Bought: - Capt. J.C. Carr Ellison, [...] Hall, Powburn, Northumberland. This material was loaned by Col. Carr Ellison in 1907 to the Hancock Museum, Newcastle.’It was purchased by Beasley on 20 January 1930 for -/15/- [Lucie Carreau, 11/07/2017].

Description (CMS Description)
Monoxyle club of wood. The handle is circular. The blade is flat and thin with a ridge in the middle and ridged ‘eyebrows’. Between the handle and the blade: one series of 4, one series of 5, one series of 6 and one of 7 ridges carved all around. The blade is damaged and there are lots of water stains on the wood.
