From loan’s file: The donor met Beth Hill in 1969/70 when she was a mature undergrad student doing Part I Arch. & Anth in Cambridge. The donor then went on to do a Part II in Social Anthropology. Beth Hill was doing a one-year Certificate Course in Archaeology in Cambridge. They kept in touch and the donor went to visit her in 1972. Beth Hill was preparing a book which was published in 1974 under the title Hill, Beth and Ray: Indian Petroglyphs of the Pacific Northwest, published by Hancock House Publishers, Saanichton, BC, Canada (ISBN 0-919654-07x). The rubbing which the museum has is illustrated on the dust cover and details of how it was discovered are on pages 107-112, with another illustration on page 112. Beth wanted to have another look at the Nanaimo River site while the donor was staying with her, so she took Mrs Whitehead along. Bett Hill fixed things up so Mrs Whitehead could make the rubbing herself to bring home
