Context (Field collection)
Bought by Ms Celia Curtis in Uganda, in Karamoja, where it was used by the Karamojong, 1967-9, where the donor worked and travelled, collecting news stories. Ms Curtis travelled with Michael Adams, a landscape painter (now based in the Seychelles), and he remembers that she bought the headrests, lip plug and the pot from the current record, informally in Karamoja, where the cow would have been milked directly into the pot.

Description (Physical description)
Wooden milk pot with rounded base and flared shoulder, with the long neck tapering towards the round opening. There are three parallel lines of burnt and incised decoration, using the pyrogravure technique, on the lower part of the neck.

Description (Physical description)
A wooden milk pot with an upright rim, a long neck that flares outward to the wide and squat body and a rounded base. Decorated with pyrography at the base of the neck with three horizontal bands of spaced linear marks. The vessel is carved in relief from one piece of wood. There are signs of insect damage on lower body/base.
