Description
Wooden headrest carved from one piece of wood, with the short rest forming a slight C-shape in cross section. The body is split into two at the base to form two feet. There is a wide C-shaped metal handle on the side of the body.

Context (Field collection)
Bought by Ms Celia Curtis in Uganda, in Karamoja, where it was used by the Karamojong, 1967-9, where the donor worked and travelled, collecting news stories. Ms Curtis travelled with Michael Adams, a landscape painter (now based in the Seychelles), and he remembers that she bought the headrests, lip plug and the rounded based milk pot, informally in Karamoja.
