Description
Jar; lid - A: A carved wooden jar, modelled on a traditional form of earthenware jar - ngatsi - used to contain rice wine. The upper part is carved with human figures with legs raised on either side of the torso. There are two vertical and three horizontal protuberances in form of bones. Possibly decorative or as vestigial handles. Condition fair: Several cracks at the base, including two major ones. B: The wooden lid depicts a coiled snake. Condition fair: Abrasions and a hole visible at one side.
