Man’s costume (2007.473 - 2007.477) presented to Rev. Whitehorn and his first wife, Elizabeth Hope Grant Whitehorn, by the churches of north-western Paiwan territory in 1969. The costume was probably made by people from the north and western side of the territory.

Description (Physical description)
Man’s bandolier lined with red and blue cloth. A row of white plastic discs runs centrally along the whole bandolier, with yellow, green and red plaited wool string on top of the discs. Each disc is separated by two flower-shaped sequins. This part is surrounded by triangular beadwork and this again is embraced by a silver aluminium chain. Attached to one end is a loop made of same silver aluminium chain. The other end shows four circular crotal bells/rattle strung on a string thread with beads and four overhanging pieces of the silver chain.

Description (Physical description)
Valan. Man’s sash of red cotton with central row of white plastic discs, each separated by two flower-shaped sequins. Plaited band of synthetic wool in yellow, green and red strung along centre over white discs. Band of small blue, orange, yellow, green and white beads arranged in triangular or chevron motif along top and bottom of sash, enclosed by aluminium chains, which extend as tassels at one end, and loop at other. Tassel end also decorated with two tassels of coloured beads terminating in metal bells. Reverse lined with blue synthetic fleece and blue cloth, possibly cotton.
