Woman’s costume (2007.466, 2007.467, 2007.470, 2007.471 and 2007.472) presented to Rev. Whitehorn and his first wife, Elizabeth Hope Grant Whitehorn, by the churches of north-western Paiwan territory in 1969. The costume was probably made by people from the north and western side of the territory.

Description (Physical description)
Black velvet crescent-shaped woman’s collar, backed with floral patterned cloth. Velvet covered by beads, seqiuns and several cowrie shells, arranged in different animal patterns. Sewed on the collar’s edge are aluminium ornaments and bells which are attached to an aluminium chain, which rattle/jingle.

Description (Physical description)
Black velvet, crescent-shaped woman’s collar, backed with floral patterned cloth. Front decorated at centre and either side with anthropomorphic faces wearing ovoid linear headdresses, intersected by butterflies and snakes in yellow, orange, green and white glass beads. Sequins and small bead crosses with sequins at centre dispersed between main figures. Bands at top and bottom of repeated groups of beads arranged in triangles. Lower edge stitched with sequins and aluminium chain, which is strung with aluminium plaques, decorated with leaves and flowers, spade-shaped ornaments and small metal bells. Four cowrie shells stitched on front centre and sides. Press studs along one top edge with short cream fabric ties on top interior edge.
