Woman’s costume (2007.466, 2007.467, 2007.470, 2007.471 and 2007.472) presented to Rev. Whitehorn and his first wife, Elizabeth Hope Grant Whitehorn, by the churches of north-western Paiwan territory in 1969. The costume was probably made by people from the north and western side of the territory.

Description (Physical description)
A pair of woman’s leggings showing beadwork at the base of the black velvet. The plain upper part and the lower embroidered part are divided by small aluminium disks. Decorated with sequins in between the repeating beaded pattern of faces. A green strap sewn on the upper edge acts as a fastener.

Description (Physical description)
Tsatsavu. Pair of short, rectangular, women’s leggings. Made of black velvet with green synthetic band stitched along top, which extends to form ties either side. Further panel of black velvet appliquéd to front lower edge, decorated with repeated anthropomorphic faces, wearing ovoid linear headdresses, in orange, green, yellow, white and blue glass beads, intersected by sequins. Row of aluminium discs stitched along top edge of panel; band of beaded diamond motifs along bottom edge of panel.
