Context (CMS Context)
This is part of a body of works produced for the installation “Mrs. Cook’s Kete” mounted among the permanent displays at the Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford, in 2002. This exhibition, a collaboration between New Zealand artists Maureen Lander and Christine Hellyar, drew inspiration from the idea that, had Elizabeth Cook ever accompanied her husband Captain James Cook to the Pacific, she might have learned weaving and other skills from local people during her travels. MAA purchased the bulk of individual works produced by Lander for this installation in 2004.
