Description
Basket - Medium-sized, tightly woven basket made of a mixture of rattan (wi perdoi) and plastic strips. The latter constitute the rim (probably pipien), ririt (just below the rim), and blue and pink jeran (decorative vertical strips). The kejit (‘ear’, where the carrying strap is attached) is made of a single strip of bamboo (tring).

(Bio): Liana C.L. Chua, female collector Used. Made by Lepeh anak Najoh, Kampung Tringgus, Bau. Holds padi seeds for sowing, freshly harvested padi and other jungle and farm produce. Despite being in Bau, Kampung Tringgus’ inhabitants are originally from the Padawan area, and continue to speak Biatah, the Padawan dialect. Many of the component names are thus similar to those in the Penrissen/Padawan areas.
