Description (CMS Description)
Fan woven from thin strips of straw-colour vegetable fibre. The handle is circular in section, formed of several think pieces of twigs. It is bound with a length of twisted vegetable fibre (has started to un-coil). The end of the handle is provided with a loop of twisted vegetable fibre. The head of the fan is semi-oval in shape. The outer edges are decorated with a dense fringe of thin strips of vegetable fibre. The centre of the head is decorated with coiled basketry forming concentric semi-ovals of bands of chequered pattern in pink, green and yellow. The colours have very faded on one side and almost imperceptible on the other.
