Christmas tree decoration in the form of a Maori warrior. A handmade cloth figure; padded; decorated with wooden beads, wire coils for hair, gold braiding to outline form, plastic beads and cotton thread; gold metallic fabric rubbed down on reverse. Label with original information on maker and identity of warrior, ‘a brave man and a good fighter was called a toa. They were trained in the art of war from a young age’

Polystyrene green beads (good condition), polyurethane foam stuffing (poor condition). Stuffing has yellowed, stiffened and shows signs of crumbling in the near future.
