Description

Plain orange-brown pot (A) with lid (B). A: Circular rim which flares out into a scalloped shoulder, and then curves back in to a flat base. Two handles attached, one on each side. Interior, rim, and shoulder are glazed. B: Circular lid with handle attached to top. Exterior is glazed.

Context (Field collection)
Collected by Dr Sander Ernst van der Leeuw between July and August 1991. Pottery from following villages have been studied in the region of Michoacan: Capula, Tzintzuntzan, Colonia Lazaro Cardenas, Santa Fé de Laguna, Huancito, Patamban and San José de Gracia. The numbers HUA-91/1A; HUA-91/1B most certainly refer to the village Huancito.

Description (Physical description)
Undecorated pot (A) with lid (B). The inside of the pot and the outside of the lid are glazed which give the item a shiny red-brown apperance.The pot has two handles placed on opposite side. At approximately two centimeters from the edge, there is a dented rim. The pot nor the lid have any surface painting. B- There is a handle placed centrally in the lid.
