Plain dish (A) with decorated lid (B). A: Plain orange-brown dish with blue handles; wide rim and flat base. B: Rounded lid with handle attached to top. Decorated with sets of concentric circles containing mosaic fish and wave motifs. Rim of lid features a black band. Both dish and lid are glazed.

Context (Field collection)
Collected by Dr Sander Ernst van der Leeuw between July and August 1991. Pottery from following villages have been studied in the region of Michoacan: Capula, Tzintzuntzan, Colonia Lazaro Cardenas, Santa Fé de Laguna, Huancito, Patamban and San José de Gracia. The numbers CAP-91/1A and CAP-91/1B most certainly refer to the village Capula.

Description (Physical description)
Plain brown dish (A) with decorated lid (B). A: There are two blue painted handles on the dish. B: The lid is finely decorated with two concentric circles of fish motifs and two concentric circles of wave-motifs. The outline of the motifs consists of fine black lines and the fish are filled in with fine white dots. The top of each wave has a blue dot. The rim of the lid has a black band. There is a handle in the middle of the lid. Both the lid and the dish are completely glazed over.
