Catalogue card: 'Batik cloth. Off-white with design in light brown and black. The repeat pattern consists of two stripes that lie diagonally across the cloth. One stripe is floral and the other is a continous abstract shape.'

Bowmer's catalogue card for batik cloths 44-48, 2004.36-40, is unclear about where each cloth was purchased. It lists Solo (Surakarta, Java), Bali and Singaraja, Bali. The place field for this record has been updated to Singaraja, Bali based on the stamp found on the cloth which refers to the 'Batik Island of the Gods'. 'Land of the Gods' is a known nickname for Bali.

Batik cloth of cream cotton in Solo Style. Long rectangle of cloth, hemmed at both short ends; alternating diagonal bands with floral and curvilinear motifs in black and brown on a yellow background; stamped Batik Pulau Dewata.
