(bio): Mrs. Barbara Spalding. Mrs. Spalding and her husband Michael worked as English teachers in Taiz, Yemen, from 1997-98 during which time she collected silver and talked to the men in the market silver shops.

Silver pendant without chain. Circular, with four separate pendants of jingles attached to base of the main circular disc. The silver has a gilt finish in some areas.

Context (Analysis)
‘The accretions found on pieces in this collection, in addition to the appearance of the silver, suggest to Anita Herle that the metal used is a mixture of silver and other metals, possibly among them copper.

Description (Physical description)
Pendant, in silver metal with some areas of gilding. Circular with granulated decoration, from the bottom of the disc hangs four short lengths of chain terminating in small silver balls.
