Necklace, made of silver chain fastening with a hook and eye. The two ends of the chain terminate in conical silver beads, the rest of the chain made up of two small openwork silver beads on either side of a larger silver sphere, with this sequence separated by an ovoid bead - possibly amber.

Mrs. Barbara Spalding and her husband Michael worked as English teachers in Taiz, Yemen, from 1997-98 during which time she collected silver and talked to the men in the market silver shops.

Description (Physical description)
Silver necklace-chain with large, hollow silver beads and red and yellow oval ?amberbeads. Each end terminates in a conical silver bead. The beads are strung on blue thread. The necklace fastens with a hook and eye attached to lengths of silver chain.

Context (Analysis)
The accretions found on pieces in this collection, in addition to the appearance of the silver, suggest to Anita Herle that the metal used is a mixture of silver and other metals, possibly among them copper.
