Description
Silver finger ring, with a flat circular centre decorated with small silver balls. On two sides of the central circle hang two loops of twisted metal wire, on either side and attached to the band are hang hoops with small silver bells. There are two smaller flat circles further down the band and the rest of the band is decorated by small silver balls.

Mrs. Barbara Spalding and her husband Michael worked as English teachers in Taiz, Yemen, from 1997-98 during which time she collected silver and talked to the men in the market silver shops.

The accretions found on pieces in this collection, in addition to the appearance of the silver, suggest to Anita Herle that the metal used is a mixture of silver and other metals, possibly among them copper.
