Mrs. Barbara Spalding and her husband Michael worked as English teachers in Taiz, Yemen, from 1997-98 during which time she collected silver and talked to the men in the market silver shops.

Description (Physical description)
Silver finger-ring, with detail all over band and a spherical silver centre-piece. The detail consists of small raised circles created by wire coils, surmounted by small silver balls. There is a small ring at the centre of the sphere, which could formerly have been used for suspending a pendant or for suspending the ring.

Context (Analysis)
The accretions found on pieces in this collection, in addition to the appearance of the silver, suggest to Anita Herle that the metal used is a mixture of silver and other metals, possibly among them copper.
