Mrs. Barbara Spalding and her husband Michael worked as English teachers in Taiz, Yemen, from 1997-98 during which time she collected silver and talked to the men in the market silver shops.

The accretions found on pieces in this collection, in addition to the appearance of the silver, suggest to Anita Herle that the metal used is a mixture of silver and other metals, possibly among them copper.

Description (Physical description)
Pair of earrings, of silver coloured metal. An arch shaped pendant with central gem in bright pink glass surrounded by star shaped pieces of metal. From the bottom of the pendant hang links, with a central flower shape, with two small bell shaped balls dangling from the bottom link.
