Description
Small round silver box with separate lid, both elaborately decorated. The body of the box is covered in very intricate, fine filigree work, in which individual elements of a scroll are positioned side by side, some creating larger scroll motifs. The main elements are small, coloured stones set into this filigree work in red, dark red and blue. The lid, which fits over the box, has no filigree work, but has two levels of decoration. The lower level has simple, punched out pieces of metal attached. Above this is a circle of stones in dark red and blue, with a larger pale green stone at the centre. At least some of the ‘stones’ appear to be made of glass.
