Description
Silver box with separate lid. This small, round box with a fitted lid comprises several design elements. The box has bands of scroll work along each edge, and between these is a band of small, raised flower-like shapes created with coiled silver wire, with silver balls as their centres. The lid is relatively simply decorated. It has several bands of thin twisted wire, and in the centre is a small flower-like shape, the petals created using twisted wire which are held down with small flattened silver balls or tacks. The whole motif is topped with a silver ball at its centre.

The accretions found on pieces in this collection, in addition to the appearance of the silver, suggest to Anita Herle that the metal used is a mixture of silver and other metals, possibly among them copper.
