Context (Production / use)
Poster of a Russian (?) painting. This poster was originally hung in a factory workshop at Ganz-MAVAG. Nore: The clear plastic covering was meant to protect it from dirt etc. to be found in the workshops. In this sense, the covering is symbolic of the way in which such objects were meant to be cared for - as objects of special significance. In such sense, a dirty poster could have been interpreted as a mark of its owner’s ideological lack of commitment. The covering was not a part of normative issue, but added later, as can bee seen by the relatively inexperienced wrapping at its back. Once hung up in one of the factory workshops of Ganz-MAVAG, Budapest.
