Context (Production / use)
This flag was sold to Andre Czegledy as one left by the Soviet soldiers who departed Hungary in the Spring of 199X after several decades of occupation. It is likely that this story is true, although it could not be confirmed by Andre Czegledy at the time. When the Soviet troops departed from Hungary they sold off considerable possessions, partly as a last-ditch effort to generate hard currency and/or money to make purchases of things difficult to acquire in the Soviet Union of the time.
