Context (Production / use)
This sort of small banner was frequently given to participants in certain events, activities or social groups as a form of commemoration and/or identity confirmation. It is symbolic of the militarisation of society under state socialism inasmuch as such banners have a distinctly military origin yet became used in contexts such as sport, labour, etc. of a wider nature.
