Context (Field collection)
This artifact was donated by Stephen F. Kostyal and was a part of his so-called 'Kostyal muzeum' at Ganz-Hunslet Rt. He assembled his collection during 1989-1992, mostly from employees of the company who had heard of his interest in collecting such objects.

Context (Production / use)
This is a presentation boxed frame of 3 separate Socialist Work Brigade. Such medals would have been awarded separately and the individual to which they were given to (as in this case) could then frame them for presentation at home or in the workplace on their own initiative.

Large presentation box contains three small presentation box, each of which contains a medal. The large box cannot be easily opened, therefore this set of objects has been given one number.

Description (Physical description)
Three Social Work Brigade medals in a presentation box. Each medal is rectangular but with convex sides, made from silver-coloured metal. They have an emblem on them, consisting of a red flag with the Hungarian flag in the middle surrounded by the words 'Szocialista Brigad' in gold. The red flag has a red star above, and is surrounded by a metal wreath. Underneath the emblem are the words 'A szocializmusért' (meaning 'for socialism'). Each medal is set in red plastic, inside a clear plastic box. The three boxes have been put inside a larger presentation box made from orange-coloured wood, with a clear plastic front and a metal suspension loop on the back. The three boxes have been secured to the inside of the box; however, the middle one has become detached and is mobile inside the box.
