Description (CMS Description)
Shark shaped figure in blackened wood inlaid with triangular and square pearl shell pieces and small tridacna shell beads. A shark inlaid near the dorsal fin in pearl shell. The surface is also decorated with glued pieces of ?orchid fibre dyed bright pink. on top of the shark's head is carved a human figure with nguzunguzu head, smoking a pipe. The figure is wearing a belt, armlets, neck ornament and head band in inlaid pearl fibre and orchid fibre. Vegetable fibre attached to the head. A hole drilled in the tail for ?suspension. all fins are damaged and there is a large crack running underneath the shark.
