Context (CMS Context)
Found un-accessioned in the Bevan store, and as it was labelled on a small circular metal rimmed label, "Duplicate - for exchange", it was assumed that it had never been formally accessioned. All Kiribati armou noted in the register appears accounted for and no trace can be found on thid piece. The number "86" printed/ stenciled on paper, and adhered to a small wooden oval plaque/label is unfamiliar and no connections to a donor can be established. Noted on an old label as "Ellice Islands", but these cuirass were produced only in the Gilbert Islands, now Kiribati.

Context (Found together / assemblage)
It seems likely that this cuirass is associated with the overalls that were numbered E 1902.425 because of the matching wooden 86 label. The cuirass was renumbered 2011.11.1 to reflect this and the overalls are now 2011.11.2.
