In the Tapp catalogue is a description of the original collectors of this object. This was part of a group of objects purchased by C. Hartly in December 1912 for £5.5 from Mr Alfred Bell of Ipswich, a distinguished collector of fossil and sometimes employed at Ipswich Museum. The prehistoric specimens came from the personal collection of a Mr Vansittart, an Army officer. For more, see FG1/2/2.
