It is possible that 'Balas' refers to 'Deir al-Balah', a city that was an outpost during the New Kingdom - which might explain how it came to the Museum along with other Egyptian material from the Department of Oriental Studies. However, 'Balas' might refer to another site and it is still unclear what 'Galalu' refers to.
