The bell is 129.04mm long. It measures 65.66mm by 59.96mm at the apex, tapering to 64.63mm by 43.68mm before increasing to 71.12mm by 49.40mm at the base. The suspension loop is 25.42mm long, 46.76mm wide and 10.34mm thick. The body wall of the bell is 2.66mm thick. It weighs 228.37 grams. The iron section is 29.12mm long, 15.68mm in diameter and weighs 19.64 grams.

Context (CMS Context)
This bell was found by the donor, a metal detectorist, on 24 May 2010. She registered it with the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) who gave it the reference number ESS-2F8C83, described and dated it, which this record is based on. She has given it MAA as a long-term loan with the understanding that it be used for teaching or display, and that this may be for several decades.

Description (CMS Description)
Cast copper alloy bell. It is sub-rectangular in plan with slightly concave sides. It has a circular cross section at the apex, changing to oval at the base. There is an integrally cast trapezoid loop at the apex of the bell with a circular opening. There are corroded iron loops, presumably from a suspension chain, on each side of the integral loop. The inside of the bell is extremely corroded; the outer edge of the bell has been partially cleaned by the finder. A corroded cylindrical iron fragment was found with the bell, and presumably was the pea.
