Description

Six fragments of mixed material, including: a fragment from the base of a large glass vessel, consisting of a domed base with a pontil mark, and parts of the vertical walls; a body sherd of grey fabric, with brown external glaze and textured grey internal glaze; a body sherd of coarse grey to red fabric, with green-brown glaze on both sides; a body sherd of fine white fabric, with white glaze on both sides, and a thickened shoulder with an incised line; a rim sherd of fine white fabric, with white glaze on both sides, and a pink band along the rim on the inside with a thin pink line below; a fragment from the stem of a white clay pipe.

Context (Acquisition Details)
Material excavated by Addyman in the 1960s and only recently donated to the Museum, when it was catalogued in bulk records. The finds from the Late Saxon settlement (see PCAS vol. 64) and those late Medieval and Post Medieval finds from a fishpond and 18th century house (see Post-Medieval Archaeology vol. 6) may sometimes share a single record, which will ultimately need to be split further.
