Catalogue card description for 1939.479 A[.1-2] - B[.1-2]: reads: `Two pairs of sandals. (A) wellmade: tanned leather sole stitched on the upper surface with red, green and buff thread; one toe division; broad green strap for fastening across mistep diagonally; (no uppers). Anlao type, Bornu. (B) Ordinary type, soles of hide with hairy side upward; one toe division, as in (A) fastened to dyed red leather strap for fastening. B is labelled in pencil Tuareg.

Description (Physical description)
Anlao. A pair of leather sandals with a wide sole. The inner sole is black and decorated with linear and geometric patterns in the colours: dark red, light brown and green. There is a leather strap secured to a leather toe thong. The strap is dark green with black borders and decorated with a pattern of raised leather dots in green and purple. The toe thong is black with a strip of light brown and then green. The sole is light brown and has traces of brown hair.
