Context (Production / use)
Catalogue card reads [printed in black ink]: The three prints were made as writing paper. They tell part of the story of Sobai and Waii. These prints and 1680 A-C were made at a women's art workshop for sale, principally to tourists, at a small gallery on Thursday Island. Paper making is not a traditional craft but each artist has employed traditional stories to depict.
