Description
Bullroarer - One of three objects shaped like pointed-ended bullroarers, the upper portion of which is elaborately carved with the human face pattern, and picked out in white and black on a red ground.
Wooden bullroarer with incised and lime infilled face on one side.
' A second record reads " Large wooden bullroarer with human face design, short ridge for nose and nick at string end." J. Somerville 5/8/2005.'

"These implements are spun swiftly in the air attached to a line, when they cause a roaring sound which is intimation that all the men of the tribe are required to attend a feast or meeting in the Lavi House. In the case of cannibalistic feasts the women, girls and boys have all to leave the village on hearing the bullroarer and remain in the bush until a signal is given them that they may return"
