Description
An eared axe made of ground basalt. Blade is rectangular with a thick lenticular cross-section, a curved cutting edge with a large concave chip in one face, a small pointed protrusion on each corner of the cutting edge, and straight, bevelled sides. Butt end is grooved for hafting: the butt is slightly indented and has outward curving 'ears' that are bevelled on the inner and outer edges; the tip of one ear is broken.
