Context (Acquisition Details)
Rev. William Griffith's Caribbean collection was collected between 2 October 1872 and 2 July 1873, whilst he was acting tutor at Codrington College, Barbados. It was donated to the museum in 1918 by his brother, Arthur Foster Griffith, likely following the death of Rev. Griffith that same year.

Description (Physical description)
An axe made from a ground, grey coloured stone, probably volcanic. Blade has an oval cross-section, a blunt, rounded cutting edge, and gradually tapered sides. Butt is a rounded cap, with a slight indentation at the base of the blade and a slight ridge below.
