Accession register description for 1901.3-12: 'Ten, rounded or square blades with expanding butt-end, in one large specimen it is indented, and in one small square example with expanding blade it is notched; in the others it is rounded or straight, in one triangular (vary from 9" x 5 to 2".9 x 2".2).'

Description (Physical description)
A small notched axe made from a ground, dark grey coloured stone, possibly basalt. Blade is a broad lobe of lenticular cross-section with a sharp, rounded cutting edge; a triangular chip is missing from one side. Butt end is in the form of a fish tail: the base of the blade has a rounded notch on each side; the butt is expanded but narrower than the blade, with a shallow central notch on the end.
