Accession register description for 1901.3-12: 'Ten, rounded or square blades with expanding butt-end, in one large specimen it is indented, and in one small square example with expanding blade it is notched; in the others it is rounded or straight, in one triangular (vary from 9" x 5 to 2".9 x 2".2).'

Description (Physical description)
A large notched axe made from a roughly ground volcanic stone, possibly andesite. Blade is a large, thick lobe of lenticular cross-section with an undulating cutting edge and tapered sides. Butt end is in the form of a fish tail: the base of the blade has a rounded notch on each side; the butt is slightly expanded with a straight end.
