Description
Polished axe-shaped pendant of brown agate. Elongated D-shaped form, pierced through along the length of the straight edge by a transverse suspension hole; a small notch is present just below the suspension hole on both vertical edges of the object.

Note by William Ridgeway: 'Given to me by Canon Greenwell, FRS, Duram for my little set of axes used as amulets. This one made of agate is from Barbadoes. It is shape after the old Carib stone axes, which of course the Negroes, as in Africa, regard as thunderbolts.'
