Description (Physical description)
Richard Nicholls: 'Small circular disc, its missing extension probably originally concave-sided and its missing handle probably cast in one piece with disc. Obverse: highly convex reflecting surface bound by channel and by outer ridge carrying relief beading (latter now rendered somewhat indistinct by ancient wear). Modern filing before soldering on of Z 23214 E (now removed) has obliterated any vestiges there may have been of engraved decoration on surviving upper part of extension. Plain edge of offset oblique profile. Reverse: what little survives of upper part of extension has surface set slightly higher than concave back of disc and is engraved with upper part of inverted triangle; from this there emerges what may be intended as a schematic hemispherical flower engraved immediately above on the lower part of the medallion with a winged naked woman apparently shown standing on top of it. She has her weight on her right leg, her right hand on her hip and her left arm hanging at her side. Her wings are half-spread and she wears shoes, a plain necklet and a Phrygian cap.'

Context (Amendments / updates)
The Place field was previously given as Citta Della Pieve, Italy. However, this was an error based on the findspot for Z 23214 A, which was originally accessioned as 1923.317 and had a specific provenance; at present there is no known findspot for this object.
