Description
Aznwelomo. Brass hair ornament for dances. Pin is round in cross section and inserted into a collar made from a flat sheet of metal decorated with an incised cross and toothed edges. The sheet splits into two long tails, each clasping a red feather.

Collected by Northcote W. Thomas in Edo State, Ijeba (=Kukuruku) (now Uzebba) town. The inhabitants belong to the Edo ethnic group, and also identify themselves further as Yekhee people. Ornament for hair, brass, with two long prongs. Northcote Thomas label reads: ‘Aznwelomo’. Cut out from beaten sheet of metal. Designs are cut out in the base of the pin, which has jagged edges. The two prongs have a red parrot feather each attached to their tips, which indicates magical powers. The object is very flexible.
