Description

Helmet mask of wood with long, pointed oval face inlaid with red seeds (Abrus precatorius); round eye holes. There are two circular areas of seeds on each temple and at the back of the crest of the mask. Below the face is an area of wooden toothed projections. Around the sides and at the back of the mask, plant fibres are knotted to create a voluminous mane. Worn with D 1911.7.2.

Description for D 1911.7[.1-2]: 'Helmet mask of wood inlaid with red and black seeds on the facial area, and with raffia fabric around the back. There are also 2 round areas of black and red seeds on each temple and at the back of the crest of the mask. It has very round eyes and a netted suit of cord.'
