Description (Physical description)
T-shaped brass hairpin topped with a four-legged animal figure. The animal has a cavity in its main body. The horizontal bar of the T shape carries similar circular relief impressions and jagged edges to Z 12510. The body of the T-shape is decorated with crosshatchings. The shaft of the pin is undecorated. An attempt has been made to represent the animal figure naturalistically, but it remains unclear what kind of animal this is. It may be a domestic animal. Similar to Z 12680. Information provided by Dr Ohioma Pogoson, Honorary Curator of the Museum of the Institute for African Studies, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. January 2013.
