Description
Nggap. Gourd vessel used for drinking beer and as a ladle for water. An oblate spheroid gourd has been cut in half vertically to create the vessel. On one side, a linear design has been burnt into the surface to act as an ownership mark. There are two small cracks coming down from the rim, which have been repaired with plant fibre stitches.

Typed note found with object reads: 'Used for drinking beer and as a ladle for water, beer and 27/2/87. Old gourd swapped new for old from Vuru Marie. Note sewn repair of crack and the ownership marks burnt in, so if borrowed for a big beer drink it can be easily re-identified.
Very common object, several (3-10) in all houses.'
