Context (Amendments / updates)
Roscoe Collection numbers have caused confusion in the past. An entire collection of Roscoe artefacts was given an independent series of 1920 numbers, which duplicated Accession Register numbers which referred to entirely different artefacts. This then caused confusion because the objects did not match the Accession Register entries for the same numbers. No Roscoe objects were accessioned in 1920. When Roscoe Collection objects with these duplicate 1920 numbers were found they were sometimes accessioned with Z numbers. Some objects which have been given Roscoe Collection 1920 numbers as well as Z numbers have been matched up, but it is possible that other Roscoe Collection Z numbers - including the present record - have yet to be matched with their Roscoe Collection records.
