Context (Amendments / updates)
The Cultural Group field previously recorded 'Watende; Kavirondo', reproducing the entry in the accession register. 'Kavirondo' is an obselete term for a group of peoples living in southern Uganda, southwestern Kenya and northern Tanzania. 'Watende' is a name for the Kuria people whose homeland lies across the Tanzania and Kenya border to the east of Lake Victoria. The Cultural Group field has been updated.

Context (Amendments / updates)
The place of origin was previously recorded as 'Chepalunga forest area.' The Chepalungu Forest Reserve is in Bomet County, Kenya. There is nothing on the catalogue card or in the accession register to support this attribution and it has therefore been amended.
