Description
A camel saddle, made from a round wooden seat on top of a triangular frame, all covered in red and brown leather, decorated with black linear patterns. On top of the seat is a diamond shaped peak at the front, decorated with a cross and dots, and triangle peak at the back with dots, both covered in white hide strapping. Black leather straps on both side of the frame, one with an iron ring.

Context (Acquisition Details)
The Arkell collection was first deposited at MAA in 1937. In 1954, some material was transferred and gifted to the Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford. The rest of the original deposit was gifted to MAA. New accession numbers were not assigned to the collection, so Arkell collection objects continue to be known by their D numbers, despite no longer being on deposit.
