Description

A wooden sanza with a gourd resonator. The sanza consists of a wooden board with raised sides and a hole in the middle, and nine metal keys held in place with a metal bar and copper wire. It is attached with a hide thong to a squat, round gourd resonator, that is dark orange in colour and decorated with an incised crosshatched design. There is a large circular hole in the top of the gourd, and the opening is lined with red and white fabric padding, held in place with metal wire. The gourd is cracked, ad has been repaired with ornate braided stitching.
